RDF presentation at DrupalCon San Francisco 2010
Today was the last day of the main conference at DrupalCon San Francisco. Lin and I gave a presentation on RDF in Drupal 7. Dries had given a brief update of RDF in Drupal 7 core in his keynote. Sadly Lin was unable to travel due to the volcanic ash cloud which caused many flights cancelations.
Thanks to skype she was able to join us and received a well-deserved round of applause. She was able to present the first part of the slides, the sound system in the room was pretty good, the technicians had done a great job at setting up the sound levels. The audience was mostly developers, and they seemed to be very excited in the latest happenings with regards to RDF in Drupal 7.
Last night the first Drupal 7 RDFa enriched search result showed up in the Yahoo! search results (see slides) and I was able to add this to my batch of demo. Facebook announced today that they were releasing the Open Graph Protocol which is built on RDFa. Very timely announced for exciting times!
The slides are available on Slideshare.
Edit: Note that the news on Facebook joining the Semantic Web with the Open Graph Protocol only came out about an hour before the session, and after careful reading, Facebook should be listed as a consumer next to Google and Yahoo! on the slide 115, not (yet) as an RDF publisher like New York Times, BBC, etc.
